Learn the art of Eco Brick making and how it came about with Tina Mcgrane, a Global Ecobricks Alliance Trainer.

In this workshop you will learn how to turn crisp packets, sweet wrappers, garden soil compost bags and cellophane into Eco Bricks, which can be used in varies ways. An effective way to use up household waste that can’t easily be recycled!

  • IMPORTANT: For this FREE workshop you will need to bring the following items with you to make the Eco Bricks. We will have some materials.
  • Any clean used sweet wrappers, crisp packets, compost bags, cellotape, cling film or other flimsy plastic wrapping.
  • A clean previously used plastic juice, soft drink or water bottle ( ideally 250ml)
  • A pair of scissors
  • A stick to poke the material through the bottle
  • Your smile!

Clare Pillinger, Anglian Water Keep It Clear Campaign informs us on how wet wipes, sanitary towels, tampons and cotton buds often contain hidden plastics, and does not disintegrate like toilet paper.  Flushed down the loo they cause environmental pollution, and  are mistaken for food by marine life and birds with horrific consequences. What are the health and environmental issues and what are the alternatives?  Co-director Kate Metcalf of the Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) delivers this Environmenstrual talk exploring the pros and cons of disposable and reusable menstrual products, their health and environmental impacts, period poverty and period taboo.  The participatory workshop enables people to make an informed choice of which menstrual products to use and to see and feel all the options available. #PeriodsWithoutPlastic

An Exclusive Eco Living Festival Cambridge Ocean Waste Dresses Installation

+ Talk with the Designer Linda Thomas

In partnership with Eco Fashion designer Linda Thomas, who created the dresses, we have curated an Ocean Waste Dresses installation which will feature four of Linda’s designs together with a public information display on the environmental messages of the dresses. The Ocean Waste Dress Installation includes 4 dresses which represent the ocean debris now floating around the UK and rest of our planet. Linda will give a short talk on why she created the Ocean Waste Dresses and the mission behind their message. See talk times in the schedule below.

THE ECO LIVING FESTIVAL POP UP LIFESTYLE ADVICE CENTRE

We are making history this year at the 2nd Eco Living Festival, by creating the first UK’s Eco Living Lifestyle and Advice Centre, within a a retail shopping centre. All our workshops, talks, demos are taking place within a POP UP Eco Living Lifestyle and Advice Centre, at Lion Yard Shopping Centre.

You can find us next to Soboro Bakery on Petty Cury, Cambridge CB2 A3E – can’t miss our brightly decorated store front!

All events at the The Eco Living Festival Cambridge are programmed by Founder, Caroline Shaheera Asante.
